Credits and licences

What you may do with Solar School material, and whose other work is in it.

The course content

The Solar School course text, diagrams, interactive visualisations, glossary and assessments are © 2026 Chris Lloyd and are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence.

You are free to share and adapt the material for non-commercial purposes, provided you credit Chris Lloyd / Solar School, link to the licence, indicate any changes, and license your own version under the same terms. For commercial use, including paid training and fee-charging courses, please get in touch.

What the licence does not cover

Third-party material

Maps and data visuals

Icons and type

Embedded 3D models

Module 1 embeds three interactive 3D models hosted on Sketchfab. These are served from sketchfab.com, are not redistributed with the course, and remain subject to Sketchfab’s terms and the uploader’s conditions.

Data sources

Charts in the course are built from published figures rather than reproduced as images. Sources are cited beneath each chart and include the IEA, IRENA, Lazard, BloombergNEF, Ember, Fraunhofer ISE, NREL, SolarPower Europe, CRU and the Global Solar Council. Facts and figures are not themselves subject to copyright; the charts are original work and fall under the licence above.

Third-party services

Course pages load two resources from Google: web fonts from fonts.googleapis.com, and the Google Translate widget from translate.google.com, which provides the course’s multilingual support. Anyone redistributing the course inherits both dependencies. Neither is required for the text to be readable, but the course will not render or translate as designed without them.
